Hey kids welcome to my UA-cam channel.
I found this stuff, just looking, you know just trying to make this video and then I found video after video. So on this channel also will be me telling you about my career. There’s stuff from Pontius Pilate I found. There there’s stuff from me on The Today’s Shows, all the stuff that I’ve done, I can put it on this tube and you can come and look at it if you want. I’ll discuss it on some videos and tell you what’s going on. As well as my home videos, I’ll say “you know who that is?” That’s what this is, it’ll be fun. Anyway, subscribe, come on over here. I’m not doing nothing, if you’re not doing nothing, join me and whatever you do, please take care of yourselves, and be safe, and um, here’s to that time, the good old days, when we will once again meet and celebrate.

"Kilroy Was Here" Film Plus "Mr. Roboto" Live - Styx in Concert 1983
Переглядів 75 тис.2 роки тому
In 1983, Styx released a concept album, "Kilroy Was Here" as a reaction to all of the anti-rock activists who had been predicting that the "evil rock music" was going to destroy society ever since Elvis Presley first hit the airwaves in Memphis in the 1950's. The album predated Tipper Gore's "Parents Music Resource Center," album warning labels, and other forms of attempted government control o...

Hey kids ! Recently I was sent this very old VHS copy of a video where I performed the role of Pontus Pilate in Andy Webers’s Jesus Christ Superstar. It’s just my three songs. The quality isn’t great but it’s the only video that exists as far as I know. Didn’t know this existed. Wish you could see my facial expressions. I gave good Pilot. Still. Hope you dig it. Cheers PP Check out the full per...

Thank you for everything Mr Deyoung!
61 year old bass player and always tried to emulate my voice to yours Thank you sir
Good to see Damone is still scalping tickets .
Saw you in Montreal a couple of years ago at salle Wilfrid Pelletier. Was a glorious night of beautiful songs just the way you sing them. Please come back! Thank you for those incredible times of buying the albums, sitting down and singing with you. Back when there were readable liner notes. Incredible voice and your singing style, thank you thank you.
Styx at their peak.
May Jesus reconcile you and yours to God. Sins are the symptoms, Jesus is the cure. Our redeemer, advocate, savior, anchor to our souls. Jesus paid the fine. Trust Jesus like trusting a pilot to the afterlife:)
Great video, great song. I've listened to it thru the years. Always reminds me of home. Thanks man.
As a teenager in 1983, Kilroy Was Here was the most amazing concept to me - intro story on the liner notes and the complete narrative that flowed through the tracks meant you listened to the full cassette every time. I couldn't get to the concert, so I'm happy to actually see the movie that I imagined so many times. The individual videos for these songs painted the picture as well. And of course the message of rock rebels standing up against the overbearing morality police played right into this midwestern Catholic school kid's own sheltered perceptions of repression. As the artistic force behind this, I can understand Dennis' desire to stage it theatrically and base a concert around it. I wonder if it would've been received any differently if it was billed as musical theater vs. as a concert? Case in point, the biggest hit from the album starts the show, and Tommy Shaw spends the time sitting watching, with no other band members visible either. I think you'd expect that at a musical play, but maybe not as much as a concert (and if you're in the band, I guess I can see the conflict that arose). I say this as a fan of both styles of entertainment (theater vs. concert). I think Dennis tried to blend them and it was a pretty incredible and unique outcome, but did it kind of come down to, not everyone in the band wanted to be Avant Garde, or at least didn't want to stick with it?

I wonder, can we have rock music that combats the Left?
All this time.
awesome!
Sounds like a musical, not rock and roll
DDY, you "da man!" Thanks for the terrific performance and the kind words about JC. 🙂
Mr. DeYoung, your keys works are the biggest reason I took up piano/keys about 9th grade, figuring out piano note by note in a dark church sanctuary left open at night, with a grand piano waiting for me...here is a link to me testing a patch for the Suite Madam Blue mid solo, using a toy microstation combi patch...(no piece of tape on the ARP string ensemble heh, I use the damper pedal to sustain the high B strings, disengage it for the primary solo split on the left :)) ua-cam.com/video/9Az0jakHD_A/v-deo.htmlsi=2iYsQPDdfWXXNzVZ
AMAZING!!! I was 9 years old in 76 when I 1st heard STYX that album. I’m still a HUGE DDY and STYX fan! Awesomeness!
Lady, Lorelei, Come Sail Away, Madame Blue, etc really helped teach me two things, how to craft a song and mostly it taught me "Good Taste" in music.
I have to get this of my musical chest. Dennis, wrote 90% of the hits and was the main sound of Styx, period! Shaw has no class for what he's saying about Dennis, from my experience in bands, I believe its envy and jealousy. Dennis in my eyes is an icon, amazing singer/songwriter, and a one off.
When i first got this tape, from the images i thought "there must be a movie or something to go with this". I didn't know enough about Styx to know what was going on, but I'm glad to finally see this! Childhood achievement unlocked!
Best song on earth.
Such a beautiful song.
Um .. yea i seen this live and it was bad ass.. even had an intermission in the show
please come to cagayan de oro Philippines
It's June 2024 when I write this. I can't believe it's been 3 years already since this song came out. I really like the beginning of the song --- the medieval sound and subject matter. I'm fascinated with Medieval Europe.
Of all the periods in human history, Medieval Europe is the most fascinating to me which is why I like it when Rock bands incorporate it into their music - Dennis De Young, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin to name a few.
Love You Dennis !!!! 🎉
There's some great music on the album, but oh dear lord the concept and execution are cringe af. Thing is, even Dennis's own songs on the album loosely support the theme at best.
Yeah, the album itself is half-baked as a concept/story, but the production design and cinematography of the intro video are great.
You performing in JCS showed me that rock guys like me could go theatre. Here is me doing Heaven On Their Minds. Thank you, Dennis! ua-cam.com/play/PLe4rNNQ7scNmYoHrtfr8iIJKwSLZC5cnr.html
I Never could get into Styx_ i'm trying now, but still can't
"please confirm and conform" sounds like covid shots
Anime Fans be like
This song was ahead of it’s time. There’s always something now that offends someone that wasn’t an issue back then. You can’t say this…you can’t do that… and now rock and roll is offensive to people who use to listen to it themselves.
Roland/Boss is Japanese though 😢
I’ve never seen this before heck, I never even heard of it before. It was awesome on a Saturday night.
Wonderful song abd wonderful artists
Dennis, the band you put together and did some gigs actually sounded better that the original Styx. The guy singing Tommy's parts was good. I just seen a video of Styx recently and the magic is no longer there. You should tour with that new band I seen before you put together. You can name it Better Styx!!!!!!!!1
Personality clashes and direction problems in bands are bad. I have been a musician for 50 years and it is hard to get everyone on the same page. Styx was a big part in my life. To me, when Styx got Tommy Shaw together with Dennis was the magic it needed. I am a rocker and thought Mr Roboto was not a good direction for the band. Direction is what broke up the band. The song writing has really suffered since Dennis has left. The magic of a band is the individuals together as a whole to make one. This is why every band I have been in is a majority rule. There have been many times I have been outvoted on issues I believed in but accepted the decision. Too bad Dennis can't return. We all would love that.

You did it again! 2 incredible artists and voices, just wow! It's not enough that the music and lyrics go for the heart strings but the video, heart shattered, but in a good way. I've been a fan forever but you don't ever loose your touch with the years, and you make us stay young inside. Thank you and hope to meet you one day. Merci Beaucoup!
Incredible. Never seen this. Wow. So far ahead of the times. Absolutely fantastic production and performance
I’m catching the beginning of this… You missed something here… “With all due respect”, of course… “Fake ME?…Well, Fake you, too”… (One word.-) And yes, I suppose “I”, probably “am”, lol… I’m just “having some fun, trying to get the job done”. Mad respect, To the crew and family. None of us are exactly “Perfect”.🤫🤫🤫🫢😉🙏✌️
My favorite Styx song is Lorelei. Suite Madame Blue is my 2nd fav.
Here is the full concert. Hope Dennis doesn't mind, but it shows fans enjoyed the show. Truth is the set was not much different from the Paradise Theater tour. You can take only so much extended guitar solos. Unlike Tommy and JY who interacted with each other most of the time, Dennis would involve the crowd. ua-cam.com/video/gIAsCFDHsn0/v-deo.html
Dennis was close but didn't quite make the Beatles. Eight Plays a Week instead of Eight Days a Week
This is pretty awesome. I never seen this
Back here again. Was always more of a hard rock guy, but man Dennis Deyoung always gets me.
Love You Dennis !!! 🎉 Thank You
